On the 9th of July 2016 the Irish feature film Cardboard Gangsters debuts in one on the most prestigious and recognizable film festivals in Ireland and Europe, Galway Film Fleadh. The festival is spaced out over a week period. It showcases the work of upcoming and established actors & directors in the form of short & feature length film.
Cardboard Gangsters is a film set in modern day north side Dublin (Darndale) that tells a story of a bunch of young men who get caught up in the street life. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this masterpiece grow into the titan it has become, step by step, from it’s very first draft John Connors wrote over 4 years ago.
I still trip out a little on the fact i was the first person to submit a track to this film “Distorted Mind” that is still being used 3 years later in the film despite the budget growing enormously with class musical artists getting involved, in fact, it blows my mind even more to know that at least 3 scenes in this film, through my lyrics, have either inspired changes or helped create brand new scenes. I’m happy to say through the help of my talented circle I’ve landed a total of 7 tunes up in this bitch (Featuring a BANGER of a tune from Soundwave Legacy Volume 2 titled “Spaceships”) with Crimes Against landing the whole musical score, this will go down in history as one of the most powerful scores in Irish cinema today, mark my words.
We look to make history again as myself and Crimes Against take to the stage in Galway to headline a show in Roisin Dubh (5 o’clock) showcasing half of our forthcoming album & some other exclusives. We will be also joined by TROM, 5th Element & Soundwave Legacy to name a few artist we are sharing the stage with on the day. I don’t think this has ever been done in Irish film, a gig showcasing a films soundtrack before it’s premiere. To say I’m excited is an understatement.
Cardboard Gangsters has the main headline slot on Saturday in Galway Film Festival. You heard it from my mouth first, this film is going to cement itself as a CLASSIC in Irish film.
